Blues Amongst Clubs Linked With Blackpool Defender - Ipswich Town News

Town are one of a number of clubs reported to be eyeing Blackpool defender Kirk Broadfoot, who is out of contract at the end of the season. The Blues, who were previously linked with the 28-year-old in August, Blackburn, Leeds and Nottingham Forest are all said to be interested in the Scottish international.

Broadfoot, who is 6ft 3in tall, was a youth player at Hibernian but started his senior career with St Mirren where he made more than 150 appearances in five years before moving on to Rangers on a Bosman free transfer in the summer of 2007.

Capped four times at full level by Scotland, scoring once, in addition to appearances at U21 and B levels, Irvine-born Broadfoot made 106 starts and 12 sub appearances for Rangers, scoring once during his five years with the Glasgow club. He joined Blackpool last summer.

Broadfoot, who won three Scottish titles and a League Cup while at Ibrox, began his Seasiders career playing at right-back but more recently has been at centre-half. He has made 26 Blackpool starts, scoring two goals.

Speaking last week, he said he would be interested in agreeing new terms at Bloomfield Road: "I’ve enjoyed it here, I don’t see why things can’t be sorted out, so here’s hoping.

"Who knows what’s round the corner, we need to get safe first before we start talking about the future.”
