Carson Wins Penalty But Can't Prevent Defeat - Ipswich Town News

On-loan midfielder Josh Carson won a 73rd-minute penalty but couldn’t prevent his York City side from falling to a 2-1 defeat at Torquay United in the second game of his spell with the Minstermen.

York were two goals down when the 19-year-old got in behind Gulls’ defender Tom Cruise, who brought him down and as a result received a straight red card.

Veteran striker Richard Cresswell netted from the spot on his return to York, his first professional club, on loan from Sheffield United.

Carson is with the League Two side, who are managed by his one-time Northern Ireland boss Nigel Worthington, for an initial month. The Minstermen currently sit second bottom of the Football League.
