On-loan midfielder Josh Carson will miss the rest of the rest of the season having broken his foot at the weekend. The 19-year-old has spent the last month trying to help York City to escape relegation from League Two and had been expected to remain there for the rest of the season.
But the Northern Ireland international fractured a fifth metatarsal during Saturday’s 1-1 home draw with Accrington Stanley — in which he created the Minstermen’s goal — and has now returned to the Blues.
York boss Nigel Worthington says he’s disappointed to have lost Carson, who managed to play on either wing, in central midfield and at left-back in five starts for his club: "He was enjoying it here and it’s a blow to lose him because he was doing a good job but it’s got to be a case of onwards and upwards and an opportunity for somebody else.
"He was injured in a tackle around the 80th minute but only felt it afterwards and we’ve since learned there’s a fracture, which is disappointing, but that’s football.”
