Wordsworth Hoping for First Team Action - Ipswich Town News
Midfielder Anthony Wordsworth is hoping for some first team action between now and the end of the season. The 24-year-old made his return to action in last night’s 3-2 U21s defeat to Charlton after cracking three vertebrae in his full debut at home to Blackpool in February.
Wordsworth told the club site that he was pleased to be back: "It was good to be out there and it was the first 90 minutes I’ve played since the start of January.
"It’s been just over 12 weeks since I last played a full 90 so that was the most important thing for me, to get through the whole game.
"I was delighted to get through it unscathed, although a little stiff afterwards, but obviously we were all disappointed with the result.
"The main thing for me now is to try and get back into the first team. There aren’t too many fixtures left but I’m hoping I can get some games under my belt before the end of the season and play my part in the run-in.”
