Winter Nets Twice for Leiston - Ipswich Town News

On-loan academy scholar Tom Winter netted two goals for Leiston as the Ryman Premier Division side drew 3-3 at Hampton and Richmond this evening.

The 18-year-old, one of the five second-year scholars to have been offered a one-year professional contract, put his loan side 2-0 up with goals in the 40th and 47th minutes before the home team fought back.

Winter has now scored three goals in three starts and one sub appearance since moving to Leiston for the remainder of the season.

Meanwhile, this evening's Championship fixtures saw Barnsley draw 1-1 at Cardiff, the Tykes netting in injury time, and Sheffield Wednesday win 2-1 away at Millwall, the Owls similarly scoring their winner in the dying moments.

The Blues are now down a place to 15th in the table, but are still six points from the relegation zone.
