Odd Not Coming Back - Ipswich Town News

The marvellously named Odd Inge Olsen is not coming back contrary to claims yesterday in the press. Town had been looking to get the Norwegian midfielder back to Portman Road after his first spell was cut short by and injury sustained in a reserve match at Barnet. The Molde player, however, has decided that he is staying at home and George Burley will have to decide whether to fork out the £500,000 or so based on what he has already seen at Barnet, for Molde or in his appearances at international level.

Rumoured Town target Jack Lester has been put on the transfer list by Grimsby. The 24 year old striker has refused to sign a contract and is clearly hoping that a bigger club will come and get him. Town, Wolves, Middlesbrough and others have all been linked at various times.

Gary Croft is likely to play in the reserve game with Gillingham tomorrow. He is likely to be wearing his electronic tag if the referee says it is OK. If he does well he could find himself in the side for Saturday's match with Swindon as Fabian Wilnis is ruled out with a one match suspension.

Both George Burley and David Sheepshanks have commented on the Richard Wright to Chelsea story which appeared in one of the less reliable tabloids at the weekend. The Town manager said: "It is all nonsense, it is just rumours and speculation."

The Chairman added: "We know Richard has many admirers in the Premiership but there are no deals in the offing to our knowledge. Richard has declined to sign a new contract, but that decision will be reviewed at the end of the season."

Yesterday Jonathan Barnett Wright's agent refuted the story saying "There is no truth in this story whatsoever and I have no idea where they got their information. We haven't spoken to any other clubs. There is no commitment by Richard to Chelsea or anyone else."

Titus Bramble was not seriously injured on Saturday in Colchester's match with Bristol Rovers. The on-loan centre-half was replaced after 69 minutes but merely has a jarred knee. He will miss one of his loan matches as he has reached five bookings.
