Luke Chambers has hailed the Ipswich team spirit and believes the players are now gaining their rightful rewards as a result of squad unity.
Chambers revealed: "Even if lads don’t get on we’re all in it together. We stuck together even when we were getting stick and we were right down at the bottom.
"Success only breeds good team spirit and we seem to have had quite a bit of success over the last few months.
"In the majority of games the gaffer has used the same 11 as often as he could but the lads who have come in all feel part of it. Since the day I walked through the door I have seen the lads get stronger and get closer.”
But Chambers is quick to confess that the impact of Mick McCarthy’s appointment to succeed Paul Jewell in November has taken Town to greater heights, even if they remain the Championship’s lowest marksmen.
He added: "Everyone has pulled their weight from day one since Mick came in. We’ve all been playing at the top level and anyone not playing at that level has been replaced in the team. Everyone knows what is expected of them.
"Yes, the strikers would like to score more goals — we as defenders would like them to score more goals — but I’m not sure if there has been too much service for them to feed on.
"We’ll look at some things in the future but at the minute we’re going to keep doing the things we have been doing. We’ve won three and drawn one of our last four games so it’s a fairly decent run for us.”
