Town Eyeing Pompey Youngster - Ipswich Town News
TWTD understands that Town scouts have recently been regular visitors to Portsmouth with central or wide midfielder Jed Wallace believed to be the reason for their trips to Fratton Park. Wallace, 19, has also reportedly been watched by Stoke, Derby and Brighton this season.
Wallace was with Carshalton Athletic, Farnborough and Lewes as a youngster before joining Portsmouth in August 2011, signing a two-year deal with an option for a further season which Pompey have taken up.
Born in Reading, 5ft 10in tall Wallace spent time on loan back at Farnborough and then at Whitehawk before breaking into the Pompey side at the start of this campaign and has scored five goals in 18 starts and three sub appearances.
Meanwhile, released Blues youngster Gunnar Thorsteinsson played for Hermann Hreidarsson’s ÃBV in their 2-1 defeat at Portsmouth in a fundraising friendly on Tuesday. Thorsteinsson is set to sign a two-year deal with ÃBV ahead of the start of the Icelandic season next month.
