U17s Take on Colchester - Ipswich Town News

A Town U17 side is taking on Colchester United in a friendly at Playford Road on Saturday morning (KO 11am).

An academy U17 squad is off to Belgium for an international tournament later this month.

Right-back Kyle Hammond (pictured) scored as the U17s drew 1-1 at Coventry in a friendly last Saturday.

Meanwhile, academy old boys Jack Ainsley and Joe Whight were at the club for the last time today, having recently been told that they would not be offered new terms this summer.

Ainsley tweeted: "Last day at ITFC today, 14 years has come to an end. Thanks to everyone and all the best to Ipswich in the future! #thatsfootball #newchallenge"

Whight added: "Strange day leaving ITFC! So many memories, fresh start for me now. #itfcalways"

The pair are currently on loan at Chelmsford City, who take a 1-0 lead into the away leg of their Blue Square Bet South play-off semi-final against Salisbury City on Saturday.

U17s: Michael Crowe, Sam McDirmid, Kyle Hammond, Josh Emmanuel, Rory Thompson, George Fowler, Omar Sowunmi, Matt Clarke, Jack Willbye, Amir Berkane, Ed Ellis, Byron Lawrence, Teddy Bishop, Cemal Ramadan, Josh Fagbohan, George Clarke.
