Clegg Appointed Badminton Chief - Ipswich Town News

Former Town chief executive Simon Clegg has been appointed the new chairman of Great Britain Badminton. Clegg left his role with the Blues in February and has since been working as a consultant to Madrid’s bid to stage the 2020 Olympic Games and will continue in that role.

Graeme Finch, GB Badminton interim chairman, said: "Simon’s understanding and contacts within the world of high performance sport both domestically and internationally are almost unparalleled.

"His leadership skills and clarity of vision will considerably strengthen GB Badminton as we strive for future success.”

Clegg added: "I am delighted and flattered to have been invited to lead GB Badminton through to Rio de Janeiro in 2016.

"I am under no illusions as to the scale of the challenge ahead in what is a highly competitive sport but it is a challenge that I am extremely excited by.

"Having personally witnessed British Badminton medals in previous Games, I look forward to being part of the team here and working with all the stakeholders, particularly UK Sport, the BOA and the home country associations, to give our players the best possible support in their quest for Olympic success.”
