Pablo the FA Cup Hero - Ipswich Town News

Former Blue Pablo Couñago was the FA Cup final hero in Hong Kong yesterday, lashing in a 25-yard strike just after half-time as his side Kitchee defeated Sun Pegasus 1-0. The 33-year-old joined Kitchee in October and has now netted 10 times.

Couñago, who also picked up the Most Valuable Player award and a HK$10,000 [£839] bonus, in addition to HK$150,000 [£12,583] for winning the trophy, was delighted: "It's a great feeling. It's not only for me, but for the fans and the club."

Kitchee are also battling on other fronts and face an Asian Football Confederation Cup round of 16 match away against Malaysian club Kelantan this week before a domestic Super Cup play-off.

Couñago, who was previously playing in Vietnam with Đá»"ng Tâm Long An, is out of contract at the end of the month and is unsure whether he will be staying with Kitchee.

The Spaniard's second spell with the Blues came to an end in the summer of 2011 when he was released having spent the previous season on loan at Crystal Palace.
