St Mirren Friendly Cancelled - Ipswich Town News
Town have abandoned plans to play a friendly at St Mirren during pre-season. Last month, the SPL side revealed that talks had taken place regarding a game, with Blues boss Mick McCarthy subsequently saying he’d like to play two matches in Scotland during the summer.
However, Buddies’ manager Danny Lennon says Town are unable to fit in a trip north of the border: "I spoke to Ipswich manager Mick McCarthy and he informed me that they can’t come up for the game. It’s nothing to do with our schedule, Ipswich had to cancel it.”
The proposed friendly had been linked with Town’s reported interest in St Mirren midfielder Kenny McLean.
Town’s only confirmed friendly so far is the visit to Colchester United on Tuesday 23rd July (KO 7.45pm). McCarthy plans to take the squad to Ireland for a week's training and one friendly.
Meanwhile, the Blues starting talks with St Johnstone midfielder Murray Davidson has thwarted Aberdeen’s attempt to sign the out-of-contract 25-year-old, according to one of the Scottish tabloids.
Rumours that Town are targeting the Scotland international have been circulating online for the last week.
