Former Blue Jason Scotland has signed a new one-year deal with Barnsley. The 34-year-old, whose six goals in six league starts and 12 sub appearances helped the Tykes to avoid the drop into League One, left Town by mutual consent in January and joined Barnsley on a short-term contract later that month.
Manager David Flitcroft is delighted that the Trinidadian will remain at Oakwell next season: "Jason has enthusiasm, energy and desire. He is a fantastic person who wants to help support the younger players in the squad and pass on his superb knowledge about the game.
"Everyone who watches Jason knows about his goalscoring abilities, but it is also the other side of him that really excites me because this is a player who has tremendous experience, know-how and drive that will benefit everyone.
"It's great to have Jason signed and I am hopeful we can follow this up with others in the coming weeks."
In March, Blues boss Mick McCarthy admitted that he might have made an error by allowing Scotland to move on and join one of Town’s then-relegation rivals.
