Briscoe Inferno? - Ipswich Town News

The first names in George Burley's firing line are starting to emerge. Lee Briscoe, the 23 year old Sheffield Wednesday left sided wing/full back, appears to be first in Burley's sights. Out of favour with Danny Wilson the Pontyfract born player seems on his way out of Hillsborough whether he joins Town or not. He is still in contract with the Owls and so will require a fee.

Matt Holland and Titus Bramble are already injured. Both have minor ankle problems, but should be available for the match at St Albans on Monday. That's OK then.

Alex Mathie appears to be having a bit of a laugh with the Scottish press declaring Bobby Petta "the new Marc Overmars". He says he feels that Petta has what it takes to excite the Celtic crowd and excel in the green and white hoops. He failed to mention falling over, disappearing for entire games and getting ratty with his own fans anywhere in the article. Mathie seems to have an uncertain future ahead of him after his disastrous season with Dundee United. However, He seems likely to leave Tannidice Park soon with a move back to England preferred.

Former Town loan man and rumoured summer target Aidan Davison could be on his way to Chelsea. The former Grimsby 'keeper left Blundell Park at the end of last season ofter a cash row with manager Alan Buckley. Now Gianluca Vialli sees him as back up for Ed de Goey now that Dmitri Kharine has left. Davison began a week's trial on Tuesday and is set to sign soon. This, and the transfer of Kieron Dyer, may spell the end of the Wright to Chelsea rumours circulating earlier this week. Let's hope so.
