Town are one of a number of Championship clubs understood to be interested in out-of-contract Cheltenham central midfielder Marlon Pack. The 22-year-old, who saw a switch to Swindon break down in January, has also recently been mentioned in connection with Charlton and Sheffield Wednesday.
Portsmouth-born Pack started his career with his hometown club, spending time on loan at Wycombe, Dagenham and Redbridge and Cheltenham while with Pompey.
Having spent the whole of 2010/11 on loan at Whaddon Road, Pack signed a two-year permanent deal following his release from Fratton Park.
Cheltenham are keen to hold on to the 6ft 2in tall playmaker and have offered him a new contract but expect him to move on during the summer. If and when he does leave the League Two Robins will be entitled to compensation as Pack is under 24.
Despite former Bristol City skipper Cole Skuse having become Mick McCarthy’s first addition of the summer, the Blues still appear to be short on central midfielders with Andy Drury released and loanee Guirane N’Daw believed not to have been offered terms.
