QPR Release Campbell - Ipswich Town News

Former Town loanee DJ Campbell is reported to be amongst the players to have been released by recently relegated QPR. Campbell, 31, was with the Blues between October and January and ended the season as Town’s top scorer with 10 goals from 17 games.

The striker recently said that he was weighing up a number of options and at the time wasn’t ruling out remaining at Loftus Road: "We're speaking to a few people at the minute, as well as QPR.”

In February, with Blues manager Mick McCarthy having expressed his interest in keeping him, Campbell joined Blackburn on loan, a deadline day permanent switch having failed to go through in time.

However, his season was curtailed in early March by a foot injury after only five starts, two sub appearances and no goals for the Lancastrians.

Whether McCarthy will renew his interest in Campbell remains to be seen, however, an approach seems unlikely until Michael Chopra, who along with Jay Emmanuel-Thomas has been made available for transfer, has found a new club.

Meanewhile, former loanee Giovani Dos Santos has been linked with a move to the MLS and the LA Galaxy from Real Mallorca, who he joined last summer.
