Former Blue Titus Bramble is set to spend time training at Playford Road during pre-season, we understand. Bramble, 31, was released by Sunderland at the end of the 2012/13 campaign and is currently looking for a new club.
A return to the Town ranks seems unlikely with Premier League clubs almost certainly eyeing the centre-half, who has played in the top flight ever since his time with the Blues.
In January, another former Blue, Kieron Dyer, similarly spent time training at Playford Road to keep himself fit following his release by QPR.
Bramble came through the Town academy, which he now sponsors, before making his senior debut in the 1998/99 season. The Ipswich-born defender was sold to Newcastle United, then managed by Sir Bobby Robson, for £4.5 million in the summer of 2002.
Meanwhile, former Blues winger Gary Roberts, 29, has joined Chesterfield on a three-year deal having been released from his contract at Swindon on Friday.
