Town are reported to be amongst a number of Championship clubs interested in midfielder Nicky Bailey following his Middlesbrough exit at the end of the season. The Blues are said to be battling Reading, QPR, Burnley, Blackburn, Charlton and Bolton for the 29-year-old’s signature.
Londoner Bailey, who was previously mentioned in connection with Town in the summer of 2010 prior to his switch to Teesside, was a youth player with Fulham before moving into non-league with Sutton United.
He subsequently joined Barnet before signing for Southend in 2004. His form at Roots Hall led to a move to Charlton a year later, then in July 2010 he signed for Boro for £1.4 million.
If there is anything in the reported link, the Blues would struggle to offer Bailey wages matching those that would be available at the various clubs mentioned who have the significant benefit of parachute payments.
