Striker Paul Taylor says he’s relieved now his court case is over and is keen to get out on the pitch playing again after his lengthy absence due to a foot injury.
The 25-year-old, who was yesterday handed a suspended sentence after pleading guilty to actual bodily harm, has apologised to the club, who have disciplined him and spoken to him regarding his future conduct.
Taylor told the club website: "It’s obviously been a worrying time, with the court case and I’m just relieved it’s all over.
"With my injury coming just a few weeks after I joined Ipswich, it was a really frustrating time for me.
"I made a mistake and I have apologised to the club. With the court case and my injury, it’s been a difficult six months or so but now I can move on.”
The former Peterborough man, who suffered the injury in only his third game after last August's £1.5 million move from Posh, is training with the rest of the Blues squad this week having continued his rehab through the summer.
"I’ve been working hard with the physio team and I’m just looking forward now to getting out on the pitch and playing some football again,” he added.
Joint-managing director Jonathan Symonds says Town have disciplined Taylor and that he has been talked to regarding his future behaviour: "Paul has been made aware of his responsibilities.
"He has apologised and has volunteered to take part in some community activities on behalf of the club.”
