Town to Run Rule Over Irish Winger - Ipswich Town News
TWTD understands that Town are set to run the rule over Waterford United midfielder Jack Doherty during their spell training in Ireland next week. The 18-year-old left winger will spend time with the squad and could play a part in the friendly against Shelbourne at Tolka Park, Dublin next Saturday.
Clonmel-born Doherty came through the youth system at the Airtricity League side and was promoted to the first team squad in August 2011. Since then he has established himself as a regular member of the senior squad.
Capped by Ireland Schools, Doherty was called up to an Ireland U19 squad for a training camp in Spain in March.
We understand that Doherty previously spent time training at Playford Road when a schoolboy.
Town and Doherty are due at Carton House in County Kildare for the start of their training camp on Monday with the hotel currently hosting the Irish Open golf.
