Bristol City manager Sean O’Driscoll says there’s a long way to go on the proposed swap deal which would see Jay Emmanuel-Thomas join the Robins and 24-year-old winger Paul Anderson move to the Blues.
"It's all come from the Ipswich end really. It's a long way from bearing fruit. There's work to be done," O’Driscoll told City’s official Twitter.
"We got approached to take Emmanuel-Thomas. I had him [on loan] at Doncaster. The discussions are around financials."
Weekend reports from the West Country claimed the ex-Arsenal man was due at Ashton Gate for talks today and we understand that he wasn't in the Town party which travelled to Ireland this morning.
The 22-year-old is said to be willing to take what is likely to be a significant pay cut to join the League One side.
Meanwhile, O’Driscoll has revealed that ex-Doncaster midfielder Martin Woods is training with the Robins.
Woods, who played for Blues boss Mick McCarthy at Sunderland, was also reported to have been offered the chance to spend time with Town during pre-season.
