Midfielder Jay Emmanuel-Thomas is facing an FA misconduct charge for comments he made on Twitter. The Blues and Bristol City are currently discussing a swap deal involving the former Arsenal man and Robins winger Paul Anderson.
An FA statement reads: "Ipswich Town’s Jay Emmanuel-Thomas has been charged by The FA for an alleged breach of FA Rule E3 in that he posted a comment on Twitter which was improper and/or brought the game into disrepute.
"It is further alleged that breach includes a reference to a person or persons’ sexual orientation within the meaning of FA Rule E3(2). Emmanuel-Thomas has until 4pm on 3 July 2013 to respond.”
While there will be no official statement from the club regarding the charge, which relates to comments made earlier in the summer, we understand that Emmanuel-Thomas has been spoken to by Town regarding the tweets.
With his possible move to Bristol City under discussion, we understand Emmanuel-Thomas did not travel with the rest of the squad to Ireland this morning with Bristol sources reporting that he was due at Ashton Gate for talks today.
