Bristol City managing director Jon Lansdown says swap deals such as the proposed exchange of Town’s Jay Emmanuel-Thomas and Robins winger Paul Anderson are notoriously difficult transfers to complete.
Speaking in an interview with City’s official website, Lansdown said: "I don’t think there’s anything to add at this stage. It’s been widely reported that we have an interest in Jay and Ipswich have an interest in Paul.
"But swap deals are notoriously difficult because you’ve essentially got four parties that have to agree on something and it’s very rare that that all comes together at once.
"It’s been quite widely reported that there is interest and that’s accurate but it still takes a lot to get something like that over the line. There’s nothing really to add to what’s already been said.”
He dismissed claims that Emmanuel-Thomas, who didn't travel to Ireland with the rest of the Town squad on Monday, had held talks at Ashton Gate earlier in the week: "That isn’t accurate.
"The fact that there is interest from both sides and both players may well be accurate but in terms of anything imminent, there’s nothing.”
Meanwhile, released Sunderland defender Matt Kilgallon, who is understood to have held talks with the Blues earlier in the summer, is reported to be in advanced discussions with Blackburn Rovers, who were first mentioned as one of the other interested parties a month ago.
Elsewhere, Doncaster Rovers have confirmed the signing of ex-Brentford midfielder Harry Forrester, who was watched by Town boss Mick McCarthy last season.
