[Now former] Town midfielder Jay Emmanuel-Thomas has been fined £3,000 and warned as to his future conduct by the FA after a Tweet which was deemed to have been “improper and/or brought the game into disrepute”, breaking Rule E3. The 22-year-old is close to completing a switch to Bristol City with winger Paul Anderson moving in the opposite direction.
An FA statement reads: "Ipswich Town’s Jay Emmanuel-Thomas has been fined £3,000 and warned by The FA as to his future conduct for a breach of FA Rule E3 in that he posted a comment on Twitter which was improper and/or brought the game into disrepute.
"Further to the charge was that the comment included a reference to a person or persons’ sexual orientation within the meaning of FA Rule E3(2).
"Emmanuel-Thomas denied the charge and requested a paper hearing. However, at an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing the charge was found proven.”
The former Arsenal man, who was charged last Monday, has been spoken to by Town regarding the tweet which is understood to have been made a number of weeks ago.
