Former Blues midfielder Jay Emmanuel-Thomas says the chance to work under Sean O’Driscoll at Bristol City was a big influence on his decision to join the Robins. The 22-year-old, who completed a swap involving winger Paul Anderson earlier today, previously played for O’Driscoll during a loan spell at Doncaster while an Arsenal player.
Emmanuel-Thomas said: "He had a big influence on my decision to come here as I know how he likes to play and I know what he expects of me.
"I had a really good spell with him at Doncaster. I thought by returning to him I could get back to how I was."
The former Gunners youngster tweeted his thanks to everyone at Portman Road: "Thank you to all the people at Ipswich Town Football Club who helped me along the way. Wish you all the best.”
Meanwhile, keeper Owain Fon Williams has signed a new two-year deal with his current club Tranmere, despite interest from the Blues and other Championship clubs this summer.
Rovers boss Ronnie Moore said: "Owain has had two really good seasons with Tranmere, so I’m pleased he will be staying with us
"He’s turned down good offers from the Championship to stay with us, which shows how committed he is to doing well here.”
