Blues skipper Carlos Edwards played the full 90 minutes as Trinidad and Tobago began their CONCACAF Gold Cup campaign by drawing 2-2 with El Salvador in New Jersey overnight. The 34-year-old was winning his 85th cap but was making his debut in the competition.
The Town midfielder was involved in the Soca Warriors’ first goal, his 10th minute cross deflecting to Keon Daniel, who beat the keeper from the edge of the box.
Rodolfo Zalaya subsequently scored twice to put El Salvador in the lead before Kenwyne Jones equalised with 18 minutes remaining.
Trinidad and Tobago face Haiti in their second game in Miami on Friday and then complete their group matches when they come up against Honduras in Houston next Monday. Honduras beat Haiti 2-0 in last night's other group game.
Edwards will join up with the Town squad once his national side is eliminated from the tournament.
