Mings Misses Chippenham Return - Ipswich Town News

Defender Tyrone Mings misses today’s U21 friendly at his former club Chippenham Town having been pulled out of the squad after picking up a knock (KO 1pm). The game was arranged as part of the deal which saw the 20-year-old join the Blues in December and the left-back or centre-half had been looking forward to facing his old side.

Manager Mick McCarthy told the club site: "Tyrone has a knock and we don’t want to take any chances at this stage.

"We have Aaron Cresswell injured at the minute as well and with a game coming up on Tuesday at Gillingham, we are light on left-backs.

"It’s disappointing for Tyrone. I know he was looking forward to going back to Chippenham and we've reluctantly pulled him out of the squad but I’ve got to look at what’s ahead.”

Cresswell suffered what appeared to be a thigh injury at Crawley on Wednesday, having previously been spotted with an icepack on his leg at Shelbourne last Saturday.

Mark Kennedy is in charge of what is essentially an academy squad at Hardenhuish Park this afternoon.

Those involved include right-back Kyle Hammond, who featured in both first-team friendlies, Irish striker Cory Galvin, defenders Omar Sowunmi and Rory Thompson, midfielder or defender Matthew Clarke and striker Ted Bishop.

Team: Crowe, Hammond, October, Leddy, Sowunmi, Clarke, Winter, Trialist, Marriott, Lawrence, Timlin.
