Striker Frank Nouble will face one of his former loan clubs when the Blues are in action at Gillingham this evening (KO 7.30pm). Boss Mick McCarthy is taking a 22-man squad to the Priestfield Stadium to take on last season’s League Two champions.
Nouble was with the Gills for three months early in 2011/12, scoring five goals in 13 starts and one sub appearance while a West Ham player.
The 21-year-old has tweeted that he is looking forward to catching up with some old friends: "Be good to see some good people there from back in the day, [from] my loan there and get some more game time.”
Also in the squad are new signings Paul Anderson and Dean Gerken, while Aaron Cresswell is a doubt with the thigh injury he sustained at Crawley last week.
As in the two previous first team friendlies, the Blues could again include trialists in the squad facing the Kent club.
Martin Allen’s now-League One Gills have just returned from a week of intensive training in France. Tickets to tonight’s game are available on the door.
Town have won all their games so far during pre-season. The rest of the fixtures can be found here.
