Town Close to Completing Veseli Deal - Ipswich Town News

TWTD understands that Town are close to completing the signing of former Manchester City and Manchester United defender Frederic Veseli. We understand terms have been agreed with the free agent and that the 20-year-old is set to undergo a medical this afternoon with the deal likely to be confirmed later today.

Veseli, who plays at right-back, centre-half and in midfield, joined up with the Town squad at their training camp in Ireland where he impressed manager Mick McCarthy.

After briefly being sidelined by a hamstring injury he was back with the squad again at the weekend and played for 45 minutes at right-back in Tuesday’s friendly at Gillingham.

A Swiss international at U15, U16, U17 and U18 levels, Veseli joined the Red Devils from rivals Manchester City in January 2012.

He was previously a youth player with hometown club FC Renens and FC Lausanne-Sport. He is yet to make a senior appearance for any of his clubs.

Meanwhile, former trialist Dan Seaborne is set to join Yeovil on a two-year deal, according to reports.

The ex-Southampton man played in Town's friendlies at Shelbourne and Crawley but moved on to Huish Park earlier in the week and was in action for the Glovers in a friendly against Torquay on Tuesday.

Speaking after the Gillingham game, manager McCarthy said: "He had other options as well, so that’s just the way it is. Not all of them work out.”
