Chopra Linked With Blackpool Move - Ipswich Town News
Town striker Michael Chopra is reportedly set to sign for Blackpool. The 29-year-old, previously mentioned in connection with Barnsley and Sheffield Wednesday, was missing from last night’s squad for the friendly at Colchester with manager Mick McCarthy confirming that he was in talks with a club.
The Blues boss, who made the former Cardiff man available for transfer at the end of the season, said: "He’s talking to clubs. Talking to a club."
McCarthy wouldn’t confirm who the club involved were: "I wouldn’t disclose what he’s doing, he’s talking to a club.”
The ex-Newcastle and Sunderland striker is understood to be on £18,000 a week at Town, a wage he is unlikely to be offered anywhere else and the Blues will almost certainly have to negotiate a settlement of the remaining year of his contract.
