Manchester United Midfielder Linked - Ipswich Town News

Town and Brighton are reported to have made approaches to Manchester United regarding the loan of midfielder Ryan Tunnicliffe. The 20-year-old is believed to be available for loan once again having spent time at Peterborough United during 2011/12 and at Barnsley last season.

Heywood-born Tunnicliffe plays in central midfield, an area where the Blues would still appear to need cover.

An England U16 and U17 international, Tunnicliffe has made two sub appearances in the Capital One Cup for his parent club in addition to 15 senior starts and 18 games from the bench for his loan sides.

In April, Blues boss Mick McCarthy confirmed that he would utilise the loan market to augment his squad. Tunnicliffe played in United’s reserves’ 1-0 friendly victory over Club Brugge last week which was watched by the Town manager.

Meanwhile, the final 500 tickets have gone on sale for the opening game of the season away at Reading on Saturday 3rd August via the club’s new ITFC Direct website. Town's following at the Madejski Stadium is likely to number around 2,000.
