U18s Win at Fram - Ipswich Town News

The Blues' U18s ran out 7-0 winners in a pre-season friendly at Framlingham Town on Thursday evening. Braces from Irish U16 internationals Cemal Ramadan (pictured) and Shane McLoughlin along with strikes from George Clarke, Teddy Bishop and Jonathan Smith secured the win.

Striker Clarke opened the scoring in the seventh minute when he latched onto Cory Galvin's through ball, beat keeper Glyn Dixon and finished well.

Ramadan doubled the lead on 14 when he side-footed home from Matt Clarke's cut back. Five minutes later the striker netted his second with a superb strike from 25 yards that nestled in the bottom corner.

Town keeper Jacob Marsden made a fine save to keep out Brett Bellamy's fierce freekick before blocking at the feet of Paul Greaves minutes later.

Bishop added the fourth four minutes after the interval before a number of substitutions from both sides rather spoilt the flow of the game.

Fram were still getting stuck in but conceded again on 79 when sub McLoughlin poked the ball across the face of goal and Northern Irish U16 international Smith tapped the ball across the line.

Dixon pushed Rory Thompson's curling effort wide before producing a fine save to keep out Omar Sowunmi's powerful header.

McLoughlin scored two late goals himself, both simple finishes after being played through on goal, to complete the scoring.

It was a decent workout for Town on a good pitch, with Ramadan's all-round play catching the eye, in addition to some of the classy touches and finishing of sub McLoughlin.

U18s: Marsden (McDermid 73), Fowler, Walton Owen, Bishop (Emmanuel 66), Robinson (Sowunmi 62), Sowunmi (Thompson 30), Willbye, M Clarke (Smith 73), G Clarke (McLoughlin 73), Ramadan, Galvin (Ellis 73). Att: 800.
