Pablo Out of Squad - Ipswich Town News

Pablo Couñago has dropped out of the squad for the match with Spurs at the weekend with a thigh injury. The Spaniard was injured in last night's reserve game.

Alun Armstrong remains a concern as he hasn't trained all week due to his back problem. Richard Naylor looks likely to take his place should he fail to make it.

Gary Croft took a boot in the face late on last night and had stiches. He will be available to George Burley should he decide to recall the almost forgotten full-back.

Martijn Reuser and Mark Venus are both OK after Reuser came through the reserve game unscathed and Venus recovered from his ankle injury from the Villa game.

Ulrich Le Pen needs more reserve football after recovering form his foot problem while Marcus Stewart is still a few games away from full recovery.

Of Saturday's opposition George Burley said: "We have had them watched several times and they are playing very well. Glenn Hoddle and John Gorman are doing a tremendous job there. They have a lot of world-class, experienced players in the side and are particularly good going forward. They play a system which is hard to deal with, with Teddy Sheringham, Gus Poyet and Darren Anderton all popping up with the ball just off the front players."

Burley added that he felt his own side are playing better than their position: "We showed plenty of confidence on Monday night at Aston Villa but unfortunately didn't get the right result. We had more possession and shots but unfortunately came away with nothing. The lads didn't drop their heads at 2-1 and were unlucky not to get an equaliser in the last 10-15 minutes. The League can change quickly, we are not halfway yet, there are a lot of big games coming up and hopefully we can get a few wins under out belt."
