Defender Tyrone Mings is hoping to be back in action after the international break which follows Saturday’s trip to Birmingham. The 20-year-old, who penned a new two-year deal yesterday, injured a medial knee ligament in the opening day defeat at Reading.
Mings told the club site: "At the time I didn’t have a clue how serious the injury was and I remember telling the physio that I’ll run it off!
"Obviously at that point I had no idea that I had a slight tear in my medial ligament and I ended up playing on it for around 70 minutes against Reading.
"I’ve started rehab now though and I’m aiming for around 14th September to be back fit, as I imagine I will still need around two or three weeks before I’m back to full match fitness.”
After the international break, the Blues face Tony Mowbray’s Middlesbrough on the Saturday and newly-promoted Yeovil Town on the Tuesday, both at home.
The game at the Madejski Stadium was Mings’s second senior appearance for Town, his debut having come at Burnley on the final day of last season.
