Hyam: Keep the Faith - Ipswich Town News

Luke Hyam has urged supporters to continue to back Town as they look to put a disappointing start to the season behind them.

Former Northgate High School pupil Hyam, who recently agreed a new three-year deal to remain at Portman Road until the end of the 2015/16 season, is confident results will soon improve.

He said: "I hope the fans keep faith with the team. Things can change very quickly in football and in the Championship any team getting two or three wins on the bounce will soon be in the top six, which shows how crazy it can be.

"I used to be a fan as well, so I know what it’s like when your team isn’t doing as well as you want them to. But whether you’re a fan or a player the one thing that never changes is that you all want the team to do well. The important thing is that we all pull together in the right direction.”

Hyam believes Town’s next three fixtures — away to Birmingham City today and then a home double-header against Middlesbrough and Yeovil following the international break — offer Town a tremendous chance to boost their modest points tally.

He added: "We can beat anyone in this league and we’ve shown that in the last couple of seasons. If we could get two or three wins on the bounce we would be right up there in the top six or at least the top ten.

"Obviously, it’s disappointing the way we have started but all the boys are confident we can turn it around. We’ve been working on the training pitch all week to make sure we do that. I’m pretty confident that once we get a win we’ll kick on and climb up the table.”

Meanwhile, midfielder Josh Carson now looks less likely to join Hibernian after the SPL side signed French winger Abdellah Zoubir on loan from FC Istres.

Carson has been on trial at Hibs with their manager Pat Fenlon having said he would be interested in taking the Northern Irishman on loan before the Scottish transfer window closes at 11pm tonight.
