Anderson Back for Wigan Trip - Ipswich Town News
Midfielder Paul Anderson will be back in the Town squad for Sunday’s game at Wigan having recovered from the minor groin injury which saw him miss Tuesday’s 2-1 victory over Yeovil.
Boss Mick McCarthy said: "He’s fine, he trained and he’s come through the training session today without any problems. He’ll be fit to play.”
Tyrone Mings will miss the trip to face the Latics but the Blues boss says he’s making progress having been out with the knee injury he suffered on the opening day at Reading.
"He’s been out for six weeks and he’s had a week’s training, so [he’ll not be involved at Wigan]. He’ll play in [the U21s] game next week. He needs to train a bit more.
"But he looks great, he’s in great shape, his knee’s no problem, I’m delighted to have him back.”
Wigan manager Owen Coyle made seven changes for the Latics’ first ever European game last night, a 0-0 away Europa League draw with Belgian side Zulte Waregem.
Jean Beausejour, Roger Espinoza, Marc Antoine-Fortune, Leon Barnett, Ben Watson, Thomas Rogne and Shaun Maloney could all return.
Former Norwich skipper Grant Holt has a knee injury and misses out, along with keeper Ali Al Habsi (shoulder) and defenders Gary Caldwell (hip) and Ivan Ramis (knee).
