Town boss Mick McCarthy says he currently has no plans to re-sign his former Wolves left winger Stephen Hunt, who, as TWTD revealed on Wednesday, has been training at Playford Road this week. However, he doesn’t entirely rule out the possibility of adding the 32-year-old to his squad should he be required.
Hunt, released by Wolves following their relegation to League One, gave his old manager a call after a proposed move to Blackpool broke down.
"Hunty was great for me at Wolves and asked if he could come down and train and I said yes,” McCarthy said. "He adds a little bit to training, he’s a great personality, infectious and he works hard.
"He’s just hoping that something will turn up for him. But it’s not here, I don’t need a wide left player, I’ve got Jay Tabb, I’ve got Ryan Tunnicliffe, who’s playing well, and I’ve got Anthony Wordsworth, who hasn’t even featured yet this season.
"So, it’s not a position I’m looking for, but if that changed, then there’s a player like him of his ability that’s not getting a game anywhere. It’s bonkers this year.”
