Daggers Game Doubt - Ipswich Town News
Town's FA Cup third round tie with Dagenham and Redbridge could be in soubt as the cold spell continues. The Daggers' game with Hayes, scheduled for Tuesday, was postponed, although it was touch and go whether the game should have taken place or not.
The pitch is covered by hessian sheeting which has been dipped in bitumen. One particular area of the pitch, in the shadow of a stand, is causing most concern. The surface is currently frozen and it may take a rise in temperature to allow the game to go ahead.
Even if the game does take place on Saturday, Town will not face former loanee Mark Stein. The ex-Chelsea man was injured in the early stages of the second round match against Exeter.
Stein played seven games for Town in 1997, scoring two goals. However, his greatest contribution to Town history was his last minute goal for Chelsea against Sheffield United which sent the Blades down and kept Town up in 93/94 while Town drew 0-0 at Blackburn.
