Boss Mick McCarthy says assistant boss Terry Connor is a “vital” part of his management team, having worked with the former striker at Wolves and now at Portman Road.
McCarthy says the man known as TC fulfils the same role as his former Barnsley team-mate and current Town scout Ian ‘Taff’ Evans did during his time as boss at Millwall, with the Republic of Ireland, at Sunderland and in his early days at Wolves.
Connor, who had been at Molineux in a variety of roles since 1999, took over as assistant boss in 2008 when ex-Wales international Evans moved into scouting.
After a brief spell as manager following McCarthy’s Wolves exit and a short period working under his successor StÃ¥le Solbakken, the pair were reunited at Town in November.
"He’s part of my set-up, he’s been a vital part of it for almost six years from when he took over from Taff, Ian Evans,” the Town boss said.
"And but for Taff I wouldn’t be sat here. That’s how important he was to me when I was at Millwall.
"So, to get somebody who has become just as important tells you how much I think of Terry and how highly valued he is by me and everybody else. He’s great.”
