Dagenham and Redbridge are continuing their battle to get the pitch fit for the FA Cup tie on Saturday afternoon. The non-leaguers have spent £20,000 on covering the pitch with a bitumen covered hessian sheet. The hire of Portman Road style blowers is considered too expensive for the Essex club.
According to www.DiggerDagger.com the pitch today is playable, but a frost on Friday might could scupper the game. However, there is a warmer forecast for Friday night which may be leave the ground playable.
There will be a pitch inspection on Saturday morning at 11am.
