Former Blues boss Roy Keane is the subject of stinging criticism from his old manager Sir Alex Ferguson in the ex-Manchester United chief’s new book, My Autobiography.
In addition to a lengthy analysis of the end of Keane’s time at Old Trafford, Ferguson, 71, gives the Irishman’s stints as manager of Town and Sunderland short shrift.
"His two spells in management proved one thing: he needs money," said the Scot, adding that Keane "came up short” at Town and hasn’t the patience to build a team.
Keane, who was in charge of the Blues between April 2009 and January 2011, later hit back.
The 42-year-old, not the only ex-Manchester United player to come under fire from their old boss, told ITV: "I’m OK, I’m quite relaxed. I won’t lose any sleep over it.’
"I remember having discussions with the manager when we were at the club about loyalty.
"He doesn’t know the meaning of the word. I don’t know how many books he has written now. I guess he will have to draw the line somewhere."
He added: "These players won a lot of trophies for Manchester United. Imagine what he’d have said if we hadn’t won any trophies."
