McCarthy Impressed With Taylor - Ipswich Town News
Boss Mick McCarthy says striker Paul Taylor is looking fitter and sharper having spent a month on loan at his old club Peterborough United. The 26-year-old, who suffered a foot injury which kept him sidelined for 11 months soon after moving from London Road to Town in August last year, has two more games before his spell back with Posh is at an end.
McCarthy took a trip to Cambridgeshire to watch the League One side draw 0-0 with Sheffield United on Tuesday and was pleased with what he saw.
"He looked much fitter and sharper,” he said. "He looked like he’d got that pace to run beyond people, up the sides of people.
"He’s had six games, not played them all fully but after 70 minutes he was chasing back and winning tackles the other night, which he couldn’t have done before he went there. He’s much better.”
McCarthy says that Taylor will be back at Portman Road after Posh’s trip to Colchester on Saturday and their home game against Leyton Orient — who are ahead of them at the top of League One on goal difference — the following week: "That’s the plan and that’s what I intend doing. We’ll see what happens, but that’s my intention.”
