No New Wolves Deal for Ebanks-Blake - Ipswich Town News

Wolves boss Kenny Jackett says he won't be offering Sylvan Ebanks-Blake a new contract at Molineux once the striker is back to full fitness. The 27-year-old, whose Wolves terms were up at the end of June, suffered a broken leg and ankle ligament damage in April and is continuing his recovery from those injuries with his former club.

The one-time Manchester United trainee is now back running but Jackett says he won't come into his plans: "We wouldn’t be looking at a deal for Sylvan," he told the Birmingham Mail.

"I just feel that I don’t particularly want to go back to the former players. It would be nice to bring new, fresh players in."

Town boss Mick McCarthy, who was the manager who took Ebanks-Blake from Plymouth to Wolves for a fee of £1.5 million in January 2008, has been linked with a move for his former player from virtually the moment he took over at Portman Road a year ago.

After the links resurfaced in September, he revealed that the two had talked: "I spoke to Sylvan a few weeks ago to see what he was doing. I rang him up while I was in the car and had nothing else to do, I was driving home.

"He’s waiting until he’s fully fit. He had a really nasty injury and I rang to see how he was doing and to encourage him, that’s all. He’s not coming here.

"I’d love him to, don’t get me wrong. If I could, I would, if he was fit and we could do it, I’d have him here tomorrow. But that’s not the case.”

He added: "Sylvan was a great signing for me. If I could sign him when he’s fit, I would. But let me tell you, the rest of the Championship, the other 23 clubs would be saying exactly the same. And some of the Premier League, I would have thought.”

Meanwhile, we understand that Preston North End are amongst a number of clubs to have approached the Blues regarding Anthony Wordsworth, who Town have made it known is available for loan. However, it's not thought that the Lilywhites are the club the 24-year-old is close to joining.
