Hewitt Joins Gills - Ipswich Town News
Blues right-back Elliott Hewitt has joined League One Gillingham on a month's loan. The 19-year-old hasn't featured for Town since dropping out of the side after the home defeat to Leeds at the end of August.
The Wales U21 international is set to remain at the Priestfield Stadium until December 14th but with Town having a 24-hour recall option after the first 28 days.
Hewitt is ineligible for the Gills' FA Cup first round replay against Brackley Town but the Blues are yet to decide whether he would be able to feature if they reach the second round where they are due to face his former side Macclesfield.
Gillingham boss Peter Taylor is in need of defensive cover with Michael Harriman away on international duty with the Republic of Ireland U21 squad and with League One matches continuing during the international break.
Hewitt has made seven starts and five sub appearances since joining the Blues from the Silkmen for an initial £250,000 in the summer of 2012.
