Loan Trio in Action - Ipswich Town News

Town trio Elliott Hewitt, Jack Marriott and David October will be in action for their loan clubs this afternoon.

Right-back Hewitt is set to make his debut for Gillingham as the League One side take on Sheffield United at Bramall Lane, having joined the Gills for a month earlier in the week.

Marriott will be hoping to follow-up his man of the match award-winning debut for Woking in their 3-0 victory over Dartford on Tuesday with more goals when the Cards take on Hyde in the Skrill Premier at the Kingfield Stadium.

Speaking at Wednesday’s ITFC On the Road event at Ufford Park near Woodbridge, former Blue Kieron Dyer revealed that he has been impressed by what he has seen of Marriott.

"I’ve been fortunate to train with him a few times and he’s a goalscorer,” he said. "Every time I’ve trained with him he’s scored five or six goals in five-a-side games or six-a-side games.

"Whatever level he plays, he’s going to be scoring 20 goals a season, I have no hesitation in saying that.”

October’s Histon are at Guiseley for an FA Trophy third qualifying round tie. October will be making his sixth appearance for the Stutes, having made his debut in a 1-1 draw at Guiseley last month.

Elsewhere, Christophe Berra was an unused sub as Scotland drew 0-0 with the USA at Hampden last night.

The centre-half has another chance to become Town’s first Scottish international in 30 years on Tuesday when they face Norway in a friendly in Molde with manager Gordon Strachan promising changes: "There'll be people who we didn't put on tonight because we knew they were going to have a full game on Tuesday."

Academy first-year scholar Jonny Smith is likely to be in action for Northern Ireland’s U17s against Luxembourg in the European Championships mini-tournament they are hosting at Solitude in Belfast this evening (KO 7pm).

Smith came on as a sub in the Northern Irish youngsters’ 1-0 defeat to Latvia in their opening game on Thursday.
