Leicester striker David Nugent admitted that he’d love to play at Town every week after netting twice in his side’s 2-1 victory over the Blues on Saturday, taking his remarkable personal records to 13 goals in 12 games against Town and nine in seven matches at Portman Road.
"I don’t know what it is about this part of the country but I always seem to score here, and against Norwich too,” the 28-year-old former England striker said.
"I had a bit of banter with the fans and they gave me a few jeers when I had a shot and it went for a throw-in but that just geed me on and I had the last word.
"I was pleased with both my goals, especially the first. Lloyd [Dyer] has done really well and the ball has come back to me and I have smashed it into the corner of the net.
"With the second, Lloyd has gone round the keeper and pulled it across and I was able to put it away. I wish I could play here every week.”
Nugent, who both Jim Magilton and Paul Jewell tried to give the opportunity to play more regularly at Portman Road, felt manager Nigel Pearson’s half-time double substitution was key to the victory.
"The gaffer made two subs and to be honest it could have been any one of us," he said. "We played on the counter in the second half and we had a lot of pace which caused mayhem.
"Ipswich started really well and could have had three or four goals but we showed the quality we needed and I’m really happy with that.”
