McCarthy Expects Quiet January - Ipswich Town News

Manager Mick McCarthy says he doesn’t expect to do too much business during the January transfer window.

"I don’t think there’ll be that much about,” he said. "There’ll be loan deals perhaps, youngsters a bit like Tunners from Premier League clubs.

"Maybe you might be able to swap players around if players are coming out of contract at other clubs, that’s a doable thing at that stage.

"If somebody’s got one coming out of contract and they know they’re going to lose him and maybe we’ve got someone in the same position we might be able to swap them around.

"I think that’s always a possibility. Sometimes just to breathe a bit of life into it, something different, but we’ll not be rushing out and getting loads of players in.”

Joint-managing director Jonathan Symonds recently told TWTD that there would be cash to spend if McCarthy wanted it, but the Blues boss says he’s yet to speak with the club’s owner about how much might be available: "I’ve never asked him the question. I’m just cracking on.”
