Having added Sylvan Ebanks-Blake, Stephen Hunt and Christophe Berra to his Town squad over the last few months, boss Mick McCarthy is being linked with another of his former Wolves players, Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong, who spent time on loan at Molineux during the Town boss’s time in charge.
The 21-year-old made five starts for Wolves in January and February 2012, in addition to 10 starts and six sub appearances for the Gunners. Frimpong has also spent time out on loan at Charlton and Fulham, but is yet to play a first-team game this season and Arsenal are reportedly willing to allow him to leave with his contract up next summer.
According to Sports Direct News, McCarthy is interested in a January loan reunion with Ghana-born Frimpong, who moved to London as a child and joined Arsenal aged nine.
Frimpong was previously mentioned in connection with the Blues a year ago soon after McCarthy took over at Portman Road when the Town boss dismissed the link. However, he admitted he was a fan: "Nothing at all [in the link], except that I admire Manny.
"He’s a really a good player. He came to Wolves and was excellent and then he did his cruciate again at QPR. He’s a player that I really like.”
