Tunnicliffe Set to Stay - Ipswich Town News
Town boss Mick McCarthy says he expects on-loan Manchester United midfielder Ryan Tunnicliffe to stay with the Blues for the rest of the season.
McCarthy says he has talked to Red Devils boss David Moyes about the 20-year-old and unless anything unforeseen happens, he will extend his stay at Portman Road beyond the end of his current spell, which is up on New Year's Eve.
"David and myself have spoken and unless they desperately need him then we’ll make that happen and he’ll stay with us," he said. "I’m hoping that will be the case.”
Tunnicliffe was one of Town's top performers during today's 3-0 win at Doncaster but McCarthy says there's even more to come from him: "He’s got more to give.
"I’m pleased with him. I’d like to be saying I’m delighted with him but I’m not. He’s got to get that lofty status yet, it’s not happened.
"I’m really pleased with him, he’s fitted in with us great and I really want him to stay and, like I say, I’ve spoken to David Moyes and that’ll happen, barring accidents.”
Tunnicliffe could miss the New Year's Day game at home to Charlton as the paperwork on the new deal might not go through in time.
