Marshall Fancied Loan - Ipswich Town News

Town keeper Andy Marshall has admitted he was starting to look elsewhere for football until given his chance against Dagenham and Redbridge last week. The former Norwich keeper was frustrated at his lack of chances after moving to Town in the summer.

The former U21 international said: "If the right club had come in, I would have considered that. But I have not been here that long and I didn't really want to go out on loan to a Nationwide club. I wanted to be involved here but that wasn't happening. I know a couple of clubs have asked about taking me on loan. The whole situation has changed for the moment but we will see what happens in a couple of weeks."

Although Marshall got his chance last week Matteo Sereni looks favourite to start in goal for Town tomorrow. Marshall hopes his performance against Dagenham will have got George Burley thinking: "It may be too early to say of the pecking order has changed. I'm not sure if the manager has decided yet and it may be a few weeks before we will know."

While out of the side Marshall says he has become a better goalkeeper. He says he has been able to concentrate on improving his keeping with Town's goalkeeping coach Malcolm Webster: "That has been one benefit of not playing. I have been able to step back, watch games and analyse how I can be better. I have watched Mattwo and learnt from him."

Marshall joined Town in the summer but a mystery back problem prompted George Burley to buy Matteo Sereni from Sampdoria. A second specialist disgnosed Marshall's problem, but by the time he was fit again Sereni was established in the Town goal.
